Bill Jaynes was a great and wonderful man! I first met Bill some 25 years ago & I consider myself honored to have made his acquaintance. I admired him for the fact that for all of his 95 years he lived an upright and honorable life. First as a loving and faithful husband to his dear wife, Alta, in a marriage that lasted an inspiring 73 years! He was also a patriot who honorably served his country in WWII. Bill was a God-fearing and church-going man who was a active servant and pillar of the Reynoldsville United Methodist church for many, many years. As an employee he was a quick learner and a hard worker whose trustworthy character brought him recognition and advancement over the course of his 30 years at International Salt. In retirement, Bill enjoyed keeping busy and was sought-out in ways that found him still giving of himself to the people of Hector Township for many years. As a father Bill always reminded me of the "Father Knows Best" sort of dad who raised his only child, Dale, to be a man of the same good character like his own. In so many ways, like the apple that doesn't fall far from the tree, Bill's son, Dale, is, himself a loving husband, father and grandfather who continues to give himself to his family but also in service to his community in the same church Bill and Alta attended for so many years, in his role as an emergency responder with the Schuyler County Ambulance Service, Burdett Fire and Rescue as well as a fair and respected Hector Town Judge of many years. These pay tribute to Bill as one who enjoyed a simple life as a humble but exemplary man. A fine legacy, indeed! He was a person of whom Schuyler County, Hector Township and our little hamlet-home of Reynoldsville, New York should always be proud... he most surely is missed! May God bless the memory of this dear, sweet man...
