Alex Peña
Mr. Alex Peña, 56, of Verona, N.J., passed away on Sept. 5, 2019, at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. There will be visitations in the Prout Funeral Home (proutfuneralhome.com), at 370 Bloomfield Ave. in Verona on Monday, Sept. 9 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Aloysius Church in Caldwell, N.J., on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Born and raised in the Bronx, N.Y., Mr. Peña moved to Verona 29 years ago. He received a BS from NJIT, was a member of IBEW Local 3 in NYC, and was vice president of operations for Kleinknecht Electric in New York.
Mr. Peña is survived by his loving wife, Kelly (nee McDaniel) Peña; his children, Jasmin, Olivia and Julian Peña and his sister, Mayra Mendez. He was the nephew of Carmen Hernandez, Sunilda Diaz, Liliana Peña, Anaiberca Ovalles, uncle of Naomi Mendez, Johnathan Mendez, Brittany Lakeman, Steven George Lakeman, Victoria Lakeman and Stanley McDaniel Jr. and brother-in-law of Steven Lakeman, Stanley McDaniel Sr., and Edwin Mendez, and a host of extended family and friends.

Our family sends love, prayers with honorable reflections of Dear Alex. We have all been very proud of the foundation Alex and Kelly have been to each other for decades. It is without hesitation that this love is eternal and the love for his family will never leave them. I am honored to know Alex and all that he has accomplished everyday he had the opportunity to make a difference. Alex and Kelly always made sure they documented the treasured time they spent always.
