John will leave behind echos whispering softly of happy times and laughing times. Very happy memories of the times we stayed with the family and had a little road trip. Thinking of Joan and all the family circle with sincere sympathy at this sad time.

Forever in my mind is Jock slowly walking next to my mum's casket playing Amazing Grace on the pipes. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. What an honor to her heritage by another fellow kinsman. Mum
Ioved her Scots roots as did Jock. Scotland forever! I can never again hear Amazing Grace without thinking of Jock.
Condolences to Joan and the family.

In 1982 after years of playing Snare Drum in a a Pipe Band I decided to learn the Pipe's. Jock was the best. He took me in as a student and taught me correct fingering and of course reading Pipe Music. He was very patient with me LOL Not matter when I saw Jock at different festivals he always remembered my name. My Dad grew up in Kearny so Fish and Chips were a night out.
I happened to see this obituary online. Wow what a great person.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family in the difficult time.
Thanks Jock for everything you did for the Bagpipe Community. You will be missed!!!!

Jock performed at my wedding, along with Colin, and he played the pipes at many several of our family affairs. My parents, Bob and Phyllis Norwood were very fond of Jock, he performed at both of their funerals. Very sorry for your loss.

Jock and I talked about the concepts of bagpipe tuning and how so many twist it to confusion in the interest of perfection. He always had it right and was very enjoyable help with the my common interest of representing hundreds of years of traditions the right way! Jock you will be missed! Jock proudly playing the bagpipes as he walked thru the tables as we ate our fish and chips. Also the ode to the hagis at Burns's supper. We're sure he's playing the pipes in heaven.
