I just heard from my brother, Mike, of Fran's passing. Fran and I shared many an Irish wedding, anniversary, dance, and St. Patrick's Day celebration over the years, he on the pipes, I on the bandstand. We go all the way back to our college days at JCSC. He always impressed with his professionalism, his humility, his quiet dignity, and his love of all things Celtic. My condolences to Bridget and all the Rafterys.

My sympathies to the Raftery family, I was sorry to hear of Frank's passing. Frank hired me for a teaching position at RLC so many years ago, and for that I will be forever grateful. I will keep your family in my prayers. Rest in peace, Mr. Raftery.

I first met Fran when I was in Scotland to view bagpipe competition in which a few friends played as well as Fran. He never forgot me wherever I'd see him, whether it be at Doolan's at an Irish Wake, Asbury Park where we were there to see the 3 Brothers (Burns) doing a reunion type show. He always made me feel so important. God Bless the dear man for all the people's lives that he touched and for being a proud husband and dad.

Heaven has opened its doors to another angel to watch over us. Frannie, it was a pleasure to know you and enjoy the four years we were students at Saints. Fun times when you would pipe around the auditorium to the tune of "When the Saints Go Marching In" with the students marching behind you. Sister Rita Austin and all the other nuns from Saints are all waiting at the pearly gates to remind you of the shenanigans you and your classmates pulled on them. Our sincere sympathy and prayers are with Bridget and your entire family. May the Lord be with all of them. Rest in Peace my friend.
