John Joseph Mount "Jack", age 80, of West Orange, NJ, formerly of Caldwell, NJ, and Winfield Park, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 10, 2021.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Aloysius Church, 219 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell, NJ, on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover, NJ.
Jack spent most of his youth in Caldwell, NJ, graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in 1958 where he was a three sport All State/County player in Football, Baseball and Basketball. Although drafted by the Milwaukee Braves he decided to continue his football career at Villanova University where he participated in the 1961 Sun Bowl.
In 1964 he went on to play defensive end for the New York Giants before an injury cut short his career. Jack then briefly served in the Army before moving onto a successful sales career at the New Jersey Bell Yellow Pages where he worked for 25 years.
In his retirement, he enjoyed his time playing golf, exercising at the Livingston oval and spending time with his children and four grandchildren.
Jack was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Kristine Marie Wells; his parents, John Andrew and Margaret "Peg" Scanlon Mount, and his siblings, Thomas and Daniel Mount and Eileen Cuniff. Jack is survived by his devoted children, John William Mount "Jack", Deborah Ann Brien, William Joseph Mount his wife, Semira Kashi Mount; his loving grandchildren, Kayla, Kevin, Sophia and Olivia; his dear brother, Robert Mount, and sister, Rita Wehmeyer. Jack is also survived by the mother of his children, Marilyn Mount.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Immaculate Conception High School, 33 Cottage Place, Montclair, NJ 07042 would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Livingston, NJ.

Jack and I were fellow sales reps and team mates at the Yellow Pages. There are and will be many good memories of our association along with some valuable lessons of life that he passed on to me.
