Freda Driggers Obituary

BROOKLET, Ga. -- Mrs. Freda Colson Driggers, age 86, died Wednesday at her residence under the care of Southern Care Hospice.
The Claxton, Georgia, native moved to Statesboro in 1969. She worked at J.P. Stevens Company and later at ITT Grinnell, where she retired following many years of service. Freda loved people, so her next job was an opportunity to socialize. She worked as a greeter at Walmart for four years.
She spent the remainder of her life as a homemaker and working in the family garden.
Freda was a member of Emit Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Sonny" Driggers; and her parents, Walter and Maggie Weathers Colson.
Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul Driggers of Statesboro, Randy and Pam Driggers of Brooklet, Danny and Brenda Driggers of Claxton and Virgil Driggers of Clito; a sister, Gwen Moon of Statesboro; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Bennie and Margaret Colson of Statesboro, Jimmy and Gertrude Colson of Metter and Vivian Colson of Savannah. Seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive visitors on Friday beginning at 5 p.m. at the family home, 264 Frances Lane, Brooklet, Georgia, and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Huffingham officiating. Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Randall Driggers, Stevie Colson, Wayne Colson, Leon Waters, Hank Wells and David R. Akridge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Akins, Lamar Meeks, Don White, Earl Jones and James Pearce.
