General Bland was a highly respected officer in the Georgia Air National Guard and a very good friend. I was privileged to serve with him for many years and traveled with him on many occasions. It was always a pleasure to serve under his leadership. The U.S. Air Force and the Georgia Air National Guard are much better military organizations because of his input and leadership. My deepest sympathies to Harriett and all the family. May God comfort you during this time for He is a God that binds up the broken heart.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Billy passing away. Such fond memories of early years in high school and all through the years Billy and his family. Harriett, I am so sorry and have you, Beverly, and Bonnie and the rest of the family in my thoughts and prayers.
Much love,
Willette W. Ansley

I served with Gen.Bland when I was with the 165th and worked in APS. I flew with him on Friday as we went around picking up fellow guards for the weekend drill. I also had the joy of having a man that took time to talk to the you men just getting in the unit no matter the rank. Thanks for the good time we had together. Ret Sgt Ron Nichols 165th APS unit.

I am proud to say that I served with Gen Bland as a member of the 116th Wing, Georgia Air National Guard. Gen Bland was an airman's general and always respected the airmen (and soldiers) he led.
