Rest in peace I went to the games in the early 80 as a teenager.
You will be missed!

A message to Don's family from a lifelong Angel fan:
In the late 70's I was a 15 year old Angel fan from Anaheim who saved his summer lawn mowing money to buy a season ticket for $300. I attended every home game in 1977, a regular "stadium rat" with a few other kids who were as fortunate as I. But what I remember was a particular stretch during that season when Don wasn't hitting well. The press (and fans) were riding him hard during that time, but what I saw has stuck with me for a lifetime. I watched him every day taking extra batting practice in the bullpen batting cage, hours before game time and before regular BP. (I was in the stadium as soon as the gates opened for every game!) His focus and determination struck a chord with that 15 year old kid; that when things get tough you have to get even tougher and work harder in order to overcome the bad times.
I wanted you to know the lifelong lesson he taught a 15 year old fan in 1977, even though I never knew him, save for an autograph or two! He exemplifies to me what all professional athletes should be to kids around the world; a great role model for life!
Keep his memory close to your heart! I have!

My condolences to the family of Don Baylor.
I considered Mr.Baylor as a good friend. We all went to Austin High School and I respected him and he always respected me as an individual. He will be missed down here
but surely cherished in heaven.
