So many memories came to mind of working with Doug over many years; first as an MCLO, then HFO during our military years, lastly for two excellent architecture/engineering firms. He was a true professional and a good man. My wife Kitty and I have often asked God to strengthen and comfort Sue and all the family working through this time of grief. We will continue to do so.

Sue and family,
Sure sorry to hear about Doug's death. I was glad that I was able to talk with Doug about a month ago. We both spent our USAF careers working for the Air Force Surgeon General. We go back a long way. I believe it was in 1961 that Doug was a Second Lieutenant project officer on the Eglin Air Force Base Hospital construction and he was driving that VW bus. I don't know how many years he kept that VW or if he ever got rid of it. I really appreciated the fact that Doug "volunteered" for a couple of the assignments, such as Vietnam and the Facilities Division in Washington DC so I wouldn't have to go. The DC assignment was a great move and he was promoted to Colonel and selected as Chief of the Facilities Division, Air Force Surgeon General. It was a pleasure working with Doug during our Air Force careers and when we both retired and worked for different Architect/Engineering firms. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time.

Doug was a great leader and wonderful example to all of us who served with him in the USAF Surgeon General's Health Facilities Division. I also worked for Page Southerland Page for a short time and was impressed with Doug's approach to the job there. I pray that Doug's family will be comforted during this time of great loss. I know he will be greatly missed by family and friends.
