I recently was made aware of Elaine's passing, and like most of you, admired her work for Adult Competency Education, but mostly, I will miss her as a valued friend and leader. She was my mentor and she and Gary introduced this "Yankee Boy" when I joined her at the APL Project in Austin. She guided me into the life and times of being a "Longhorn". We cheered and cried at all of the Longhorn wins and losses and Gary and I toasted the birthing of the Texas wine industry and Elaine was a happy witness to it as well. As a couple, they are sorely missed and the creators of many fond and wonderful memories. RIP.
Ron Lemay, former co-worker and friend.

So sorry to hear this news. I met Elaine and Gary through UT LAMP and was always inspired by her approach to life and continued engagement with the world.

It was a complete joy to know her and I will miss seeing her very much. She has a beautiful life story! Many blessings to the family.

I have fond memories of many associations with Elaine over the years fostering the competency-based adult education movement. She was both intelligent and joyous -- making work always a pleasure. RIP
