Gene was such an awesome person. My parents always looked forward to his visits. He and Ellen are the definition of what god intended for marriage to be. Every time I saw Gene it was followed with the biggest smile and the warmest hug. I will truly miss those. Rest peacefully now.

Mrs. Goertz - I'm so sorry to hear the sad news of Mr. Goertz. His ready smile will be missed at St. Ignatius, Martyr. I know our God has received him joyfully!

Dear Ellen and family,

It was with great sadness that I received the news of Gene's passing. Roger Ibarra, Jr. sent me the news of Gene's death. It was indeed a joy to see Gene every Sunday at the 7:30 a.m. Mass and at other parísh events.

Gene was always kind and pleasant with his ready smile and wit. I remember our conversations after Mass with juliane and Darrin and CW. I remember Gene's witness to his faith by the way he lived and treated others. A man of with indeed who did not worry about things. He knew that the things of this earth were nothing in comparison to what is to come. Now Gene is enjoying the "good life" promised to those who do good on earth.

I thank God for having known Gene and thank God for Gene's life and for having known him. To his wife Ellen and to his sister, Ella Mae, I send greetings and condolences. May the Lord give you strength and may the Spirit guide you in this time of sorrow and loss. Love and playera, Fr. Joe, CSC

I am so glad I got to know Gene (and Ellen) at St. Ignatius. They both loved our parish and it was evident in their ministry as greeters every Sunday. I'll never forget celebrating their anniversary in our Mother's Chapel with them and Bishop Bill. Praying for Ellen and the family.
