In another parallel word perhaps we all exist in the same time and space. We sit around, have intense conversations about politics, the economy, the world order and predict how the future would unfold. We would play games and laugh and share anecdotes about our families and pets. We would watch movies and debate the artistry and subtexts. We would fill the gaps with stories about what happened in our lives when war and circumstances separated friends but then reconnected them. What if? I am saddened that this scenario doesn't materialize in this life trajectory, but firmly believe that the two trajectories did intersect maybe accidentally but maybe intentionally and I am glad that they did. I am actually amazed that they did. My fondness and loyalty forever, my dear friend.

Hard to believe the passage of time around you when things come to a standstill for you. What is time without your loved one? It is time that does not exist in the same manner as before. I like to think that you will be together again and that the time between now and then is shorter than a blink of an eye in the true measure of time.

The last time I saw Imad was in Beirut in the early 1980's a day or two before he left for the US. I always wondered where he ended up. From time to time I looked up my old friends from AUB on the web. It is so ironic that we had been living in the same town for years but our paths never crossed. It is so sad to find your old friend this way. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
