I am so pleased to have known Cosette. She was such a helpful lady and I respected her. She made me feel like part of her family. She will not be forgotten and I hold my memories of her in my heart. My condolences to her family. Sincerely, Daniel T. Abrego

I met Cosette sometime in the 70s, I think, at a Christmas bazaar where she was an exhibitor, and fell in love with her beautiful marbleized fabric. I remember selecting a number of ties and scarves in a variety of colors, and wanting more colors that weren't represented. As a result, Cosette invited me to come to her home to see the stock she had there. What a lovely visit that was! I was absolutely enchanted with her unique artistry, gorgeous patterns, and amazing color sense--and her kindness in taking the time from her workday to spend with me. That Christmas, my husband got a wardrobe of Cosette ties. He loved wearing them, and they always drew compliments wherever we went. I remember someone at a party telling us how much Cosette's work was admired in Washington, and that every senator and representative aspired to own at least one Cosette Russell tie or scarf! She was indeed a gifted artist, but also a kind and generous human being I'll never forget.

Cosey was my good "mother". She had a sweet way of tucking me into my bed at night. She never expressed any resentment over being forced to look after her young half-siblings--I always felt that she liked me and cared about my well-being. In the midst of much instability, she was my rock and the presence of joy, creativity and calm.
Cosy will always be missed.

It was the 1960's when I knew Cosette - I was in high school and lived next door. The world was chaos to me in those years. But I learned from Cosette that my personal world was actually inside me, and a woman can do and be whatever she wants. She was a significant role model for my life, and I thank her always.
