Kathryn Davis Hibbert
Austin - Kathryn Davis Hibbert, 88, passed away in Austin, Texas on June 2nd, 2021.
Kathryn was born in Pensacola, Florida on January 4, 1933 to Wilbur and Margaret Davis. She was the middle of three children that included older sister Peggy and younger brother Bill. After graduating from Pensacola High, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Florida State University in 1953. She was deeply dedicated to the field and spent her entire career in the profession. She would ultimately earn a Master of Science degree in the subject from the University of Texas in 1972.
Most of Kathryn's career in social work was spent as the Program Director for the Department of Families and Protective Services in Austin, TX. She led the programs for foster care and adoption within Austin and the 29 surrounding counties. Through her work, she touched the lives of families across Texas; many of which were in desperate need.
Outside of work, Kathryn was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She raised her three boys, Andy, Blair, and Reb, in Austin - all of whom remain in the city. Her home became the hub of an ever-expanding group of friends, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She was a confidant in trying times, a place to land that held no judgment and an eager listener. Her very nature was characterized by an endless giving and caring heart. She is deeply, deeply missed.
Kathryn is survived by her sons William "Andy" Hibbert III (wife Alexia Hibbert), Blair Hibbert, Reb Hibbert (wife Gillian Hibbert); brother Bill Davis (wife Penny Davis); grandchildren Rachel Clapsaddle, William "Andy" Hibbert IV, Ethan "Jake" Hibbert; great-grandchildren William "Chuck" Clapsaddle, Ava Hibbert, Kathryn "Annie" Clapsaddle; and a host of beloved nephews, nieces and friends.
Kathryn is proceeded in death by her parents and sister, Peggy Hacker.
A graveside service will be held at Phillips Cemetery in Dripping Springs on Saturday, June 12 at 11am. A reception will follow afterwards at son Andy's house. If you would like to bring a dish to the reception, please sign up at Kathryn's Reception Sign-Up. As Kathryn would have done it, all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in Kathryn's name to one of her favorite charities: The Sierra Club, The World Wildlife Fund or an animal charity of your choice.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. Kathryn was my first Program Director at CPS - and the best of them all. She had more knowledge in her little pinky about how to help children and families than I will learn in my lifetime. Kathryn was complex - smart, witty, scary and stern at times, open and accepting, young at heart and fun loving, adventurous, kind, extremely perceptive about people and able to laugh at herself. She was tough in all the right ways. I learned to appreciate that most of all. I am grateful that Kathryn allowed me to be in her special orbit for a short time and to learn so much from her. I will miss her. A donation has been made to the ASPCA in her memory.
