Martha and Carol McPherson were superior people. When Carol was ordained, they moved to Beaumont. I asked my parents, Frank and Oweta Betts, to meet them. They had them to dinner at their house. The two couples became good friends, and their friendship lasted through the years. My husband Bob and I were fortunate to meet them through their next door neighbors, Martha and Joe Williams, who were our good friends. We treasured their friendship.

My prayers are with your family. Both Martha and Carroll McPherson were the best next door neighbors to my family in Austin. Martha was about the sweetest person I ever met. Margaret Williams

Martha, was a quiet angel, and she loved cooking for Mary's friends. Her pinto beans and ham are a great part of my Austin memories. She loved telling stories about her love for Mexico and her paintings from these artists. She will be missed and she was such a class act.
