Ann COLDSMITH Obituary

COLDSMITH, Ann Bostick Ann Bostick Coldsmith passed away on December 11, 2017 surrounded by her family. Ann was born on December 7, 1932 to Mona T Cromartie and William Bostick in Childress, Texas. She attended nursing school and later worked as a dental technician. She met the love of her life, Airman Pat Coldsmith, at a church dance. They fell in love at first sight and were married six weeks later on March 26, 1955 in New Mexico. At the clerk's office to obtain their wedding license, neither knew the other person's first name. When Pat signed his full name as Orval Patrick Coldsmith, Ann said "Orval?" And when Ann signed her full name, Zelphia Ann Coldsmith, Pat said "Zelphia?" We can only imagine what the clerk thought. During the early years of their marriage, they lived in California and New Mexico, but returned to their beloved Texas living in Amarillo, Texas City, Alice, Houston and eventually settled in San Angelo. They also enjoyed traveling and snow skiing. Ann especially excelled at tennis and bridge, winning several awards. While Ann and Pat loved their children, they adored and were over the moon for their four grandchildren and even retired early to move closer to them in central Texas in 1994. In 2005, Ann and Pat celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, but Pat died shortly thereafter. Ann faced her loss with determination and a desire to make the most of her time after Pat's death. She moved to Austin, joined four bridge groups, took up swimming and enjoyed her grandchildren and all their pursuits. She also became a surrogate grandmother for the children in her neighborhood. Ann was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in July but rather than enduring the suffering caused by chemotherapy and surgery at such an advanced age, she elected to spend the next six months of her life enjoying time with her children and grandchildren. Ann Coldsmith is survived by her children, Sherry Coldsmith and her husband Michael Christie, Rev. April Coldsmith and her husband Dr. Britt Bousman, Mark Coldsmith and his wife, Beth Healy Coldsmith, and her nephew, Charles "Bing" Glenn and his wife Nadine. She is also survived by her grandchildren, S. Blythe Coldsmith Bousman, Atticus Woodrow Coldsmith Bousman, Christie Jesse "C.J" Granados Ann Coldsmith, and Haley Patrice Coldsmith. The family gives their sincere thanks to Kindred Hospice of Austin and the essential care mother received from Jim RN, Venus CNA, Jill RN, Purity LVN and Devin RN. We also thank Betty Jo, homecare worker. We are indebted to the kindness and love of Mother's neighbors on Mesa Grande, and many thanks to our friends and family for their love and support. Ann did not want a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church Mission Programs, 5226 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
