William Butler Obituary

BUTLER, William C. William C. Butler (Bill), born on Veterans Day in 1935, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 15, 2017, after battling cancer for a year. Bill loved his wife Juliette and family, which included his parents William Butler and Mary Catherine McGivney, his sister Anne Neely, and his step-children Kerry, Cindy, Steve, Sonny (Del), Cliff, and Poupee, and Kevin. Bill's love of country, patriotism, and being a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force meant everything to him. Bill's other passion in life was caring for abandoned animals. He and his wife, Juliette, rescued hundreds of stray and injured dogs and cats, for over 30 years. He loved all things Texas and was a huge UT sports fan. Words cannot express how much we will miss you Bill, but we take comfort in how you touched each one of our hearts and gave us countless precious memories to carry with us. You were a husband, a brother, a father, and a friend. Until we are together again, you hold our hearts and our love. Bill was buried, in his dress military uniform, at Austin Memorial Park cemetery with full military honors, on November 19, 2017. His draped American flag was officially presented to his wife on behalf of the President of the United States, and a grateful nation. "Bill I am lost without you, I still think you are around every time I call for you. I miss you more every day. Thirty years and I only wish it could have been much, much longer. Every day I look at your picture and think of you. You had a gentle heart, you were so kind, generous, elegant, and classy. You had a great sense of humour, and were the best dancer! We had a great time together. You are in my heart, mind, and soul for the rest of my life." - Juliette Butler

Missing you so much is overwhelming. Every day I think of all the wonderful memories, the times we spent having coffee at La Madeleine's. You will always be my hero. I need your love and advice now more than ever, as I get older and wonder what lies ahead. I love you, Bill, and miss you with all my heart.
