SANDITEN, Dean Gerard Dean Gerard Sanditen, whose warmth and light-heartedness drew in children and adults and all who came to know him, died on Friday surrounded by his family. He was 86. Dean was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and a cherished friend to many. He had a sense of pride for the people with whom he spent time and the places where he spent his life. He was born in Tulsa, OK to Lillian and Samuel Sanditen, with two older siblings, Charlotte and Wilfred. Dean graduated from Tulsa Central High School and the University of Oklahoma. He served in both the Navy and Air Force where he was in charge of the commissary at Warner Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia. He began his career working for his father-in-law, Joe Brand, in the retail clothing business. Subsequently, he began working in real estate and development whereby he was involved in a multitude of businesses and properties that included franchises, car dealerships, ranches and farming, subdivisions, and shopping centers. He was a founding member of Doctor's Hospital and The South Texas National Bank in Laredo. Because Dean enjoyed his work and camaraderie with clientele and partners he never considered retirement. He sought to create things that would benefit the city he called home after marriage, Laredo, TX. Dean's passion in life was truly his family which he was able to realize when he met his beautiful bride, Patricia Terri Brand, in Tulsa and they married in 1952 in Laredo, TX. He was a very loving man who took the time to guide his children, understand their wishes, encourage their dreams, and welcome and love the people with whom they shared their lives. He and Patsy had a love for life and shared community that made their home a home to all who passed through it. He was an avid sportsman excelling at tennis, men's league basketball, football and hand ball. He loved spending time in nature whether at a ranch, in the woods, mountains, or near the ocean. Dean is survived by his son Barry Sanditen (Gail Sanditen) of Austin, TX and his daughters: Lauren Sanditen of San Antonio; Dana Sanditen (Raul Vallejo) of Austin, and Lynne Sanditen (David Gorodetzky) of Boulder, CO; Grandchildren, Shelby, Britt and Sarah Sanditen, and Major Joseph; brother, Wilfred (Jean) Sanditen of Tulsa, Ok; and long-time companion, Marianne Morris. Dean was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 46 years, Patricia Brand Sanditen (D: 1998). A special thank you to Dolores Garcia who provided care and became family, Thanks also to Silverado Senior Living and RedBud HomeCare Services. A memorial service for Mr. Sanditen was held at Congregation Beth Israel, 3901 Shoal Creek, Austin, Texas on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 6:00 PM. I remember Mr. Sanditen well from my childhood. He and Mrs. Sanditen welcomed me practically every other weekend for sleepovers with their loving, loyal daughter Dana and her sweet little sister Lynn. They could'nt have been kinder to me, a little girl from a broken home. They treated me like family. They treated my older brother Symon the same way. I remember the way Mr. Sanditen used to get down on the floor to play with his us, he loved his children so much. I remember him always coming to tuck us in at night with a kiss on the forehead, even one for me. I've never known a better Dad. My condolences to you his children, and thanks to Dana for having shared him with me. My brothers, Symon and Adrian also send their heartfelt condolences to their friend Barry Sanditen.
