ROSS, Leonore Jacobson Long time Austinite, Leonore Jacobson Ross, age 93, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2018. She was born in New York City on March 30, 1924, the older of two children of Walter Jacobson and Sarah (Kandell) Jacobson. At the end of WW II, she worked as a fashion artist. She dated and married Stanley Robert Ross, a Columbia University graduate student working on his PhD in Mexican History. They began to travel to Mexico and fell in love with its rich culture. She began to combine her personal passion for art with her growing interest in all things Mexican. Meanwhile, they started a family. She was a devoted mother to her three children, Steven, Alicia and Janet; and devoted also to her artwork. While some other women focused on family, in her 40's Lee went back to school and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and then a Master's of Fine Arts (1975). To supplement her income from art, she also sold real estate for a living over the next 15 years. Lee Ross was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Sarah, her brother Howard, and her daughter, Janet Irene Ross Cain. She is survived by her son, Steven, and wife Sandra, and their daughters Michelle and Amie, as well as her daughter Alicia, and granddaughters Amber and Olivia. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX 78745. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Lee's memory to GenAustin (www.girl2020.org) or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to: www.harrellfuneralhomes.com.
