Coach Akins was 2nd only to my Dad in influence on my life. Although it saddens me deeply that he is no longer with us, I'm thankful that I was lucky enough to know and love the man.

He was tough, fair and I never doubted that he cared about me more as a human being than a football player.

He was on of the best of "the greatest generation". They don't make 'em like him anymore.

Thanks Coach

Coach Akins Sir. i offer my condolences to your family but I speak to you as you were still here. And to me you always will be. Thank you for being a role model for generations of young men who will likely try to be half the man you always were. i knew you in Greg.-Portland and your family. Followed you and your teams where ever they played because i was proud of what you displayed on and off the field. Always wanted to go have a talk with you since I live in Georgetown, but now regret I didn't. Always bragged about you and your teams. Thank you Sir for your military service and for all the young men you showed what being real men was suppose to be. R.A.H Georgetown ,TX.
