What a beautiful eulogy to a beautiful, loving and caring person obviously written by those who loved her very much. We join you in sympathy and mourning but also in the celebration of her life.

While I share my condolences with Amy, John and the rest of the family, I am filled with gratitude that Shirley is a part of my life. I will always remember her infectious laugh and that little glint in her eyes. But, I am permanently blessed by her kindness, her friendship, and encouragement at a crucial time in my life... She will always live as a key part of my life.Rest in peace dear one....

This fine lady has left such a beautiful imprint on my heart. My trio has played the annual Christmas party at Brookfield for the past several years. Two years ago, as the musicians and I were packing up our gear to leave, Mrs. Shaw approached us with a gentle and kind smile and asked if she might be able to sing, off mic, a song with our pianist, Dan. He was more than happy to oblige and we were all dumbstruck as Mrs. Shaw commanded the stage (obliviously a well seasoned professional) and proceeded to bring the house down. We, along with staff and the remaining residents were delighted. The next year, I asked Mrs. Shaw if she would sing for us and though she declined at first, she graced us with more of her fine performances and we almost couldn't get her off the stage...though we would have stayed well into the night to make more music together. I have carried the videos of her singing in my phone since then. They bring me such joy. I am so grateful to have had just a glimpse of the powerful woman that she is. Thank you, Mrs. Shaw, for blessing me with your presence, style, and grace.- Susan Arbuckle
