DE ASES, Jr., Abram Abram De Ases, Jr. passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the age of 85 in Miami, Florida after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Abram was born in Woodsboro, Texas on November 1, 1931. Abram moved to Miami in 2015 after living most of his life in Woodsboro, Corpus Christi, and Austin, Texas. Abram is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Eva Delia De Ases; two children, Abram Michael De Ases and Anne Janet Hernandez Anderson; his sister, Consuelo Baker; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Marcos Dwayne De Ases, his son. Abram earned his A.A. in Social Science from Del Mar College in 1951. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Goose Bay Labrador, Canada during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Abram attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, where he earned his B.A. in History and Education in 1958. Abram then worked for the Texas Employment Commission (TEC) for 35 years as an interviewer, veteran representative, placement supervisor, and manager in Corpus Christi, McAllen, El Paso, and Austin. In 1959, the Disabled American Veteran's Association named Abram as Best Veteran's Service Representative in the U.S. After retiring from TEC, Abram worked for Caritas Refugee Services in Austin providing employment services for refugees resettled by Caritas of Austin. He not only took pride in his military service and work, but also truly relished the friends and travel opportunities. Abram's motto was "always try to find a way to help people." A viewing will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 5 p.m. to midnight at Maspons Funeral Home, 7895 SW 40 Street, Miami, FL 33155. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 10 a.m. also at Maspons Funeral Home. A private burial will follow at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.

Abe and I had many conversation filled with wit and political humor. I think of him often as I go down Plantation.
