I worked at Yoshikai Elementary School for 21 years and was delighted every time Alyce came to our school. She was always so gracious and caring towards the children and staff.

It makes me happy that she has a school named after her because she was such a wonderful person. She gave a lot to our community and everyone at Yoshikai is proud of this school.

She will be missed very much. Nancy Smith-4th and 5th grade retired teacher

This was one very special lady. I will always remember the day she appeared in my classroom, after school was out to tell me of a concern she had for me. It regarded my personal safety and she leaned of it as an administrator. And she wasn't even my principal, but a heart filled need to protect me without our even knowing each other. That's one story in what I'm sure are hundreds of many others. She is a star in our Salem heavens.

To me she will always be Mrs. Yoshikai, my second grade teacher in 1953 at Richmond school. I may be 70 years old, but I will never forget the special projects she would assign me to encourage my budding love of the arts. My only regret is that when I became old enough and wise enough to recognize her influence on my life choices, I didn't find her and thank her. So in Mrs. Yoshikai's honor, if a teacher helped you and encouraged you, look them up and thank them.

To me, she will always be "Mrs. Yoshikai", my second grade teacher at Richmond school in 1952. I may be 70 years old now, but I still remember the special projects she would give me to encourage my love of art. My only regret is that when I became old enough and wise enough to recognize her influence on my future, I didn't look her up and thank her. So in Mrs. Yoshikai's honor, if you have an important teacher who helped you along, find them and thank them.
