My CONDOLENCES to the Parnell Family. My apologies for this late note. On April 9th, I stopped to visit him (not knowing that he had passed away) and when I approached the staff to inquire if he was home they told me the bad news, I became silent and went to sit down in the lobby and reflected on our visit not long ago. I also remembered asking him; where he grew-up? His replyHere! And this is where I will stay until the day he replied. The 20th of April 2017 was the day he was called by the LORD. I am blessed to have spent a few moments with Mrs. and Mr. Parnell. I saw two people in love I take care of her and she takes care of me Dale and Beverly acknowledged this unique covenant!

A SPECIAL ACCOMPLISHMENT
In 1969, Oregon Schools Superintendent, Dale Paul Parnell installed the 1st State Inter-group Human Relations Commission to assist him and the Board of Education to assess academic needs of ALL minority students; Evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs and to recommend alternatives for further improvement.

The quote that made him a Sincere Advocate for Equality is written on the front cover of the Commission's Pamphlet. In that ERA, I must add that not ALL people in power agreed and/or supported this bold effort.

QUOTATION: It is time we recognized that some of our citizens are not getting a fair shake. Oregon has not escaped the problems of alienated citizenry and we aren't going to hide these problems under a bushel any longer.

(Signed) Dale Parnell Superintendent Public Instruction

The Commission comprised of staff and people from various districts, regions and backgrounds, felt empowered to assist Supt. Parnell.

THANK YOU, DALE! In 2014, I had the pleasure of meeting Dale and his wife Beverly. They were both adjusting to their descending health but had an attitude that was exemplary; they were an inspiration. From the time I arrived, there were smiles, jokes and a special Parnell hospitality. My purpose for my visit was to express our gratitude on behalf of the Migrant and Immigrant Community. We also discussed my role in the Commission and how much I learned about our Educational System in Oregon. The knowledge and activities that the Commission provided was one of the reasons that I became an Education Advocate. I showed him my letter when I was appointment to the Commission and he read it; this, I will never forget.

DALES ACCOMPLISHMENTS The chronicles of Education History place Dale high in the list of leaders. By subject, position and geographic placement, Dale did so much that a college course should be offered; course title The Parnell Impact on Education K-Community College. Besides being a visionary, he led by example. I am also hopeful that a school at every level be named after a man that operated on high-gear from the startDale Paul Parnell.

EDUCATING TODAY'S NEW COMERS: An information capsule will be added to my website to acknowledge, celebrate and to reflect on a SPECIAL ERA of trials, developments and accomplishments. Please visit www.texmexorusa.org
