I grew up working summers on John Ferry's (Grandpa) farm. We also visited many different holidays. We always spent time with Eugene and Helen (uncle and aunt). While many adults felt they were helping children by criticizing all their faults (to help them improve), Eugene and Helen helped children by loving and accepting them for who they were. Helen made everyone so comfortable with her unconditional love and acceptance. An exceptional woman.

I can't say I was as close to Helen as some. She was married to my older cousin Eugene, we were not close in age, and I moved away from the area nearly four decades ago. Given that, we remained in remarkably close contact over the years through family connections and I had chances to see her periodically over the years.. She visited us in Tucson along with cousin Louene from LA a year or so ago, and I feel blessed to have spent some wonderful quality time with her. I will cherish it always, as will my wife Elizabeth and daughter Maeve. With her warmth, elegance, and understated charm, Helen always made me proud of where I was fromany place with people like Helen has to be a good one! In her presence, we were all better people. I'll miss her. Condolences to Randy, Gina, and families.
