Just learned that my rock from the Elsinore passed in July. My heart is broken. He provided me with years of laughter, support, carpentry skills and a plethora of dirty jokes. We could have filthiest and most hysterical battles of wit. He had been fighting cancer off and on for years but never gave up hope. He suffered through the loss of three wives (two while I knew him) but still never gave up his sense of humor. I last talked to him around Christmas and knew he was fighting another battle with cancer and at the same time he gave me his loving support during my own troubles. He was more than the Theatre's Facilities Manager and handyman, he was my friend and I loved him dearly. I knew that the news would come to me eventually that I'd never hear his laugh again. I'll miss you terribly, ya scrappy old geezer.

My husband, Elden Ferris, met John in the 60s. They shared a love of airplanes and became fast friends. He introduced me to John and Lee and they embraced me as well. He was Elden's best man at our wedding 50 years ago, July 1. We spent many hours at their home and many overnights. John was a fun guy and loved to tease.

I send my condolences to you, Danny and Jill. It has been much too long since we have seen you. We are unable to attend the Memorial Service but will keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you say goodby to your father.

Our love,
Elden and Margie Ferris
