Just learned of LaVeta's death. I'm so very sorry. The photo of her in her uniform is beautiful. She shared many fun times and happy memories with her fellow WAVES in the Columbia River Ripples. We were saddened to see her slip away from us mentally, but thankful for her family who watched over her and cared for her in her last years. Her family and her faith were so very important to her. She was truly a loving, sharing, caring lady, and we loved her for it.

My sympathy goes out to the family during your time of grief. May God's loving-kindness comfort you and help you through this difficult time. (Psalm 119:50,76)

LaVeta was so many things to me. A mentor, a boss, a friend and often a surrogate mother. We lost touch a few years ago, but I would think of her occasionally. LaVeta and Leonard were both so sweet to me, patient, humorous, thoughtful. I am sure they are having a wonderful reunion. God Bless all you children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, I know her family was paramount in her life! She was a shining light in so many more lives as well. I will not be able to attend the service as my father has doctor appointments that day, but I will be thinking of you all, and especially LaVeta.
