Robert Carter Obituary

Robert "Bob" L. Carter

Keizer - Bob Carter, 84, of Keizer, Oregon, passed away on March 6, 2018. Bob was born in Dayton, Washington, on March 17, 1933, to Frank and Dixie Carter.

Bob was working at Libby's Cannery in Walla Walla, Washington, when he met Linda Kay Chamberlain. They married on March 27, 1967. The following year, their daughter Brenda was born. Together they were involved in church activities. After working many odd jobs including a pharmacy, a camera store and a furniture factory, he returned to cannery work at Libby's Cannery in Salem.

In 1984, Bob met and married Trudie Anderson in Lebanon, Oregon, where they operated an adult foster care business until moving to Salem in 2002. During this time, Bob also worked in retail sales at Kmart, Target, and Walmart where coworkers and customers alike were considered friends. Trudie passed away in 2008.

He was a long-time member of Harvest Time Pentecostal Church where he preached and taught Bible classes. He loved his Lord and Savior and loved sharing his faith with others.

Bob loved music, especially southern gospel music. Favorite pastimes were trips to the Oregon coast, photography, watching NASCAR and old movies.

Bob is survived by his daughter Brenda, step-daughter Ruth (Wally), step-sons Richard (Linda), Edward (Rae Ann), James, Vance (Karla), and Montie; his sister-in-law Sharon (Larry) and brother-in-law Clarence (Rita). He was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved their Grandpa Bob.

He was preceded in death by his wife Trudie, his step-daughter Vanessa, and grandson Ryan.

The family wishes to thank Patty, Dad's dear neighbor of many years, for her friendship and caregiving of Dad. Also, many thanks to the staff and friends at Brookdale Assisted Living in Keizer for helping Dad feel at home there.

A Memorial Service will be held on March 14, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. at Harvest Time Pentecostal Church, 600 16th St NE in Salem.
