Salem - G. Philip Schetky, 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 8, 2017. Phil was born in Portland to Jack and Claire Schetky. He graduated from Washington High School, went on to Oregon State University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Freshman English class changed his life, he met his future wife, Helen Schultz. After graduating, they were married in 1952. Phil joined the family business, Schetky Equipment Corp, later becoming President.
He was active in the Machinery Dealers (President 1972-73), ORRA and the Portland Beaver Club.

Family time was Phil's #1 priority and the cabin became a gathering spot for friends and family. Holidays were extra special at the cabin, especially Christmas and the 4th of July! Upon retiring, Phil and Helen moved to Saddlebrooke, Arizona. They continued their love of the outdoors by walking, biking, gardening and enjoying the warmer weather. After 17 years of fun in the sun, they moved to Salem to enjoy more frequent family time.
