Of Port Colborne has found eternal life in heaven, leaving us on August 19, 2021 at the Welland County General Hospital after a major heart attack. Predeceased by brother Bruce Harry Benner and by his daughter Janet Lynn Castle (Brian).
He is survived by his dearly beloved wife Joy of 65 years, and loving son Peter David; by his nephews Gordon Benner (Joyce Chyrski), Gary Benner (Lisa), niece Maureen Stuart (Jim), niece Karen Benner, and by his great-nephew Taylor Stuart (Shanleigh), great-niece Lauren Stuart, and his great-great-niece Jordyn Lily Stuart. David and Joy have been happy residents of Portal Village since 2013. David was a graduate of the University of Toronto, graduating class 1955. He was employed for 29 years as a chemical engineer at the Vale (Inco) refinery in Port Colborne. David was a member of the Port Colborne Baptist Church, serving faithfully as a deacon and on various Niagara and provincial committees in the Baptist Convention. He enjoyed summer months at the family cottage on Crooked Bay, Six Mile Lake. At his request cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to visit DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME 135 Clarence St. Port Colborne on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3:00p.m. Masks and social distancing required.
