On Sunday, April 4, 2021, Jack passed away at the age of 82 after a short illness that was too much to bear for anyone who knew him. He was a firefighter for 32 years, retiring as Platoon Chief to become as busy as ever for the past three decades putting anyone's needs ahead of his own. Everyone's favourite "uncle", bar patron, club member, errand runner, neighbourhood chat, and most of all, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Jack will be missed more than we can express. Vi, his wife of 56 years, kids Todd and Julie, and grandson Ryan hope he has all the vacuums, lawnmowers, and running water he wants where he is now. Cremation has taken place.

My heartfelt condolences to Vi , Julie and Todd. I always looked forward a visit with Uncle Jack, because I knew we would laugh and talk about work and laugh some more. I always remember bringing our small dog Brandy on the leash into the house and he would say.. she looks like a Rat on a string ... but then he would give her a rub on her ears and say hello. I enjoyed visiting him at work at his office in the Firehall, where I gave him the respect that he deserved by calling him Chief James. He looked good in the white shirt with the gold epaulets. I know that if not for Covid there would be hundreds of his Firefighting family paying their respects to Jack and his family, and in behalf of all active and retired Firefighters that worked with or knew Jack, we salute you. Rest In Peace
