With great sorrow we announce the passing of Les into the arms of his Savior, on Saturday, July 17, 2021, in his 91st year. Born in Hants Harbour, Newfoundland to Frank and Myrtis Strickland. Beloved and devoted husband of the late Ruth Strickland (2018) for 66 years. Survived by his brothers Graham and Burns. Loving father of Robert (Eleanor) Strickland, Susan (the late Dan) Mikitka, Cathe (Bob) Mills, Joy (Rob) Patterson, and Richard (Rita) Strickland. Proud and cherished grandfather of Michael, Julie, Matthew, Craig, Marc, Marissa, James, Samuel, Sophia, and Selah. Great-grandfather of 16. Retired after 35 years at GM. Quiet, strong and dependable, Les faithfully served in the Salvation Army and proudly supported his dear family and friends. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 22nd from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines (905-684-6346). Due to COVID19 restrictions, visitors are asked to please call the funeral home to book a visitation time. A private burial has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in the Hulse & English chapel on Friday, July 23rd at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. Catharines Salvation Army.

Robert, Susan, Cathe, Joy and Richard our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your father. To the grandchildren and great-grandchildren cherish your memories. Les was a wonderful man who inspired kindness and love, courage and compassion, joy and faith to all who knew him. It was an honor to be included in the Strickland family embrace, to share fun and laughter with Les and his dear wife Ruth. Les has now crossed to heaven and he will be re-united with Ruth his beloved wife and lots of friends and family will greet Les. Although Russell and I can not attend the funeral home Strickland family please know that you are all in our thoughts and praying that God will comfort and care for you all as you celebrate the life of Les.
