To Jamey and family, I am so sorry for the loss of John. He was a big part of my life for a number of years. He was my step-dad, my basketball coach and principal :-), and a kind, funny, and loving person. He is truly missed. Love to all the Neely family, Diana Ramey Bell

I just heard of John's passing yesterday and was glad to hear that Clay High is honoring him at the game Friday.
John was my summer school teacher the year before my senior year and asked me to keep the scorebook for Clay my senior year. I had not been that much of a basketball fan but since that year became a lifelong fan. When he came back to Clay in the early 70's I had been back as a math teacher and he asked me to keep book again. I finally stopped several years ago after about 30 years or so. I have fond memories of the games and trips including one trip over the Christmas holidays to Mississippi. I always enjoyed seeing him when he came back to visit and find it hard to believe he is gone.

My earliest recollections of John are that of a patient and calm Drivers Ed. teacher (remarkable considering I was one of his students!) and a passionate coach. I came to know him as a caring brother-in-law with a zest for life, a passion for fishing and love for his family. Difficulties come into every life and his and his family's were no exceptions. But I sensed that healing and grace were being experienced in his life and relationships. May God grant that to each of us and may God's comforting grace, healing and blessing be upon John and his family and friends.

It's been years since I have seen y'all!
I remember the good times all the Neely families had when we got together at your grandparents' house in Harrisville.
You're in my thoughts and prayers. I know tomorrow will be a special day memorializing your Dad and my Uncle Hayward.
