Dear Tammy,

I know it's been a long while, and I don't even know if you remember me, but I feel compelled to convey my sincerest sympathy for your loss.

Tammy, I knew you and John before you married and when your first baby was born. It was a whole lifetime ago, and perhaps we are all different people now.

You introduced me to John when I was at a vulnerable time in my life, juggling a job at McDonald's (with a tenacious manager-boss), family crises, and collage. John, unwittingly, through his passion for cars helped me orient myself. I still recall what he said one Autumn weekend as we worked on my car together in his makeshift garage: "Do what you love, man."

He was indeed a proud man, father and husband. But never too proud that he wouldn't take the time to help out a soul in need.

John, may the beers taste better in heaven, man. God bless.

My deepest sympathies to the family on your loss. I always saw John Palombi riding in one of his cars on Hanover Drive in Ocean Springs with a big smile and a waving hand. I never knew his name until I saw his picture in the obituaries. I wanted the family to know how much joy he brought to a stranger along the road. I will miss his smiling face.
