My very deepest sympathy to you, Beverly, children, Tinker and Nancy. I knew Joey when he lived in Long Beach. He worked at Ms. Ruby's store and rode a Honda motor cycle after school and on weekends. I lived at the other end of the street, so we road the same school bus. He was always smiling and mischevious. He hung around with some of my friends, and we invited him to go to church with us. He did, and he even sang in the choir for our Christmas program that year.

The following spring, he was my eigth grade prom date. He hung out in the guys restroom most of the night smoking with the other guys. I believe we danced once, and then my dad picked us up.

Joey continued to go to Little Zion Baptist Church and even decided to be baptized in April of that year. Then his family moved to Saucier, and he wasn't there for the baptism. I wondered over the years if he returned to worship. It was great to learn that he did.

You wrote such a wonderful tribute, and the video showed what a wonderful life you shared! I was very happy to know that he had a life of faith and service to God. God is the only one that can heal our broken hearts and strengthen us day to day. May you be blessed with the comforting arms of Jesus.
