Karen Windham Long, age 71, passed away on September 7, 2016, in Ocean Springs.
After a two year and one month battle with cancer, she is free. No more illness, tests, surgeries or pain. God was merciful and took her home in his loving embrace. She was so many things to so many people. She was a mom, sister, aunt, friend, wife, nana, ammo wife and so much more. She traveled the world with finesse and style and told us she had a beautiful life with everything she ever needed and wanted.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Royce and Ocita Windham; her husband, CMSgt. Paul E. Long.
Karen is survived by her husband, Bill Barnard of Ocean Springs, MS; her daughters, Kim Thompson (Charles) and Kris Blevins (Kenny), all of Gautier, MS; her step children, Jayne Godfrey (Tom) and Scott Barnard (Jeanette); siblings, Karla Childs of TN, Kathy Young of AL, Konnie Norris of AL, Edwin Windham of Forest, MS; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ashley Thompson, Brett Thompson, Michael Paul Thompson and Gabriel Hart Blevins; step grandchildren, Katie and Jake Godfrey, Olivia and Anna Barnard; mother-in-law, June E. Long; and numerous extended family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 11:00 am at Wesley United Methodist Church, 8900 Old Spanish Trail in Ocean Springs.
To her friends and family in Italy and all over the world who cannot be here, please sit back and have a good glass of Italian wine and salute Mom. What a wonderful life she lived.

Karen will be missed by many people, of course. But the Class of '63 will especially miss her. High School was much fun and most of that fun was Karen's unending wit.
