I still can't believe you aren't here. It has been years since you left us to join God's elite team of Engineers, Directors, and Brilliant Individuals. The loss is still heavy, the pain is still there, and the wishing I had more time with you is ever present. Almost every day, I talk about how your presence in my life changed me. I know that others feel the same way, but I hope that before you left this world, you realized your wonderful impact on it. I am thankful that I had you as a guiding mentor. Thank you for helping to make me the person I am.

Marty was the candle in my darkness after my mother passed away in 1995. I was all alone in the world with my two young daughters. His daughter introduced me to him and he took the time to comfort my children and me. My daughters and I cherished the time we spent with Marty and his family. We learned so much from him about life. He had such energy and enthusiasm for everything he did. He was so intelligent and interesting. He always brightened up the room with his "Hello roses, Hello dew, Hello sunshine , How are you?" I think about him everytime I go to the YMCA because he loved going there. He taught me about theater and I developed confidence because of him. He made a huge impact on the lives of my two daughters and me. I just want to say "see you" to him because he always said that instead of "goodbye" and I hope when my time comes that I will see him again so that I can tell him what a special friend he was. He always used to call me before he took an airplane trip because he felt that God listened to me. So, Dear God , if you have time to listen to me , please tell Marty that Michelle, Marielle, and I will always remember him and we thank him for helping us.

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Marty at Ingalls Shipbuilding in the 1990s. The gym bag to carry his "stuff" and the two pairs of glasses to focus; always good for a joke and a permanent smile; Marty was someone you wanted to be around unless you were in disagreement with his engineering. He was a shipbuilder's shipbuilder and if there aren't ships in Heaven already- there soon will be. Fair winds and following seas Marty. You have left in your wake many fond memories and many friends.
