1947 ~ 2018
Long Beach
Drenda Spitchley Holifield, age 70, of Long Beach, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on March 7, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Robert and Wilma Miley Spitchley.
Drenda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joel Reeves Holifield; her children, Tracey Holifield Logan (Chris), Dina Holifield Cook (Ken), Jeffrey Holifield (Kate), and Patrick Holifield; her special grandchildren, Brady Logan, Abby Holifield, Reeves Cook, and Emma Holifield; and other relatives and many friends.
She was born in Jackson, MS and moved to Long Beach at the age of 13. Drenda graduated from Long Beach High School and the University of Southern Mississippi where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority and the ROTC Sponsor. She married Joel Reeves Holifield on December 12, 1970 at the First Baptist Church of Long Beach.
She was the owner of Rocket Pest Control, which was started by her father in 1965, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Long Beach. Drenda was the proud mother of Tracey and the triplets, Dina, Jeffrey, and Patrick. The greatest joy in her life was spending time with her kids and grandkids and she and Joel never missed an event that they were involved in. Drenda was known for the love that she had for her family and her countless number of friends. She enjoyed her many trips to Orange Beach, Christmas at "her house" and the 43 years that she spent with her Bunco group. The family would like to thank her special friends, Pat Frederick and Bobi Winstead, special family member, Stephanie Holifield, and all of our dear friends who have helped us during this time of sorrow.
The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Long Beach, 300 N Cleveland Ave. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12 pm until the service time at 2 pm. Interment will be in Long Beach City Cemetery.
