It is with deep sadness that I learned of my friend Bernard's passing. We were both working in the Boston Public Schools when we first met while taking courses together, and quickly realized that we had much in common. Over the years we saw each other frequently, socially and professionally. I always looked forward to those occasions as Bernie had an infectious sense of humor. We would laugh uncontrollably many times as we shared our happenings, we both seemed to always be in the midst of things.

Bernie was a unique person: intelligent, personable, ingenuous, and accomplished. He liked people and he liked helping them. He was compassionate and understanding; people regularly sought his counsel, a person that you quickly learned to admire and respect.

I feel privileged to have had Bernie as a friend for so many years; when I think of him it will be with the fondest of recollections and of the good times we shared. He touched my life. I will miss him greatly.

He was one of my favorite professors at FAU. He had an amazing ability to reach people. He was exceptionally bright and equally as humble. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

It was a privilege working with Bernie during my years as a member of the School Board. He greatly enriched the lives of the children of Palm Beach County and will be missed by those who worked with him and others who benefited from his wisdom and kindness.

Elaine and Family, Bernie was truly a remarkable man and I know he will be missed. The tributes to him stated at his funeral and in the media reveal what a great person, husband, father, and "papi" he was. I always enjoyed working and talking with him, including about Clark Univ. where I was also an alumn but 25 years later. My deepest sympathies and condolences to you all. May he RIP.
