Frances C. Nardozza, 98, best known for her radiant smile and a life-long passion for dancing as the locally famed husband and wife dancing duo of "Fran and Vito," went home to the Lord on November 13, 2020, in Lauderhill, FL. She was born in Syracuse, NY on March 12, 1922, to Frank and Concetta (Crisafi) Scibilia, both of whom immigrated from Italy in the early 1900s. Fran was united in marriage to Vito L. Nardozza of Rome, NY on September 3, 1949 in Syracuse, and remained married for 67 years until Vito's passing on November 28, 2016. Fran grew up in Syracuse, and after several family moves, relocated permanently with her family from Rome, NY to S. Florida in 1971.
Fran and Vito competed in and won, an untold number of dance contests ranging from jitterbug and swing to ballroom, disco, and other contemporary dance styles. Her love for baking produced some of the best cream puffs ever known. After entering assisted living from her residence in Sunrise, FL, she stayed active with her love for arts and crafts and participated in other activities until their unfortunate curtailment under strict facility lockdown orders, due to the terrible Covid-19 Pandemic.
Fran is survived by her daughter, Carmel Ann Nardozza, Sunrise, FL, son Nick Nardozza, Boonville, NY, son and daughter-in-law Frank and Anne Nardozza, Davie, FL; grandchildren Aaron (Courtney) Nardozza, Seekonk, MA, Nicole Nardozza, Rome, NY, Zachary (Samantha) Nardozza, Wilmington, NC, Gina Nardozza, Wilmington, NC, Marie (Alex) Smith, Davie, FL, and Paul Nardozza, Davie, FL; four great-grandchildren Cory, Dominic and Milly Nardozza and Adrian Felshaw; and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Frances was predeceased by her parents and sisters Rosaria Sofia and Mary Scibilia, and brothers Anthony, Natale, and John Schibilia.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at St. David Catholic Church, 3900 S. University Drive, Davie, FL. Interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale, FL. A private viewing, due to Covid-19 restrictions, will be held at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home at 2401 S. University Drive, Davie, FL 33324 on Friday, Nov. 20, 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HOPE Outreach Center, Inc., Davie, FL (www.hopeoutreachfl.org
