I was so saddened by this news! Howard became a special friend when my family moved to Dania just before I entered second grade. He befriended me when I was the new kid in class and we remained friends for several years. I was always proud to say he was a friend as I watched him become a leader within the Tribe and accomplish so many things for his people. He learned I had a Seminole great grandmother and accepted me as one of his people. I last saw him when he came to Tallahassee for FSU Homecoming to crown the Homecoming Queen and King. Rest In Peace, My Friend . You leave behind a wonderful legacy!

I'm writing this message for my father Murray Rawson. They met in Florida while my father was serving a mission for the LDS church. Howard and my father became great friends, insomuch that Howard came to Utah to meet the President of our church, Pres. Spencer W. Kimball.
I'm sure they're having a wonderful reunion. They thought a lot of each other and have a lot to catch up on.

Farewell, my old friend and classmate. My dreams are still of you when we were very young.

Howard was truly one of the strongest leaders I have ever know. I am in shock and just now reading about his death. My heart and soul hurt but I know he is with our great Lord. Karen, Clint and Dorothy you are all in my prayers and I love all of you. Kay Ortega, Albuq. NM
