Judy Mareiniss May 16, 2020 Judy Mareiniss, Syracuse area native and Queens, NY resident daughter of the late local broadcaster Joel Mareiniss, passed away Saturday, May 16th from complications related to Covid-19. Judy was an accomplished musician, as a senior at Fayetteville Manlius High School, earning Second Chair Violin on New York's All State Orchestra. After studying at Buffalo University and travel abroad, Judy completed her Masters Degree in Sound Design from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Communication. Judy started her sound production career doing sound engineering for many notable Syracuse bands including the Tear Jerkers and Natives, before taking her talents to the world renowned CBGB's Rock Club in Manhattan, doing sound for notable alternative pioneers like the Ramones, Blondie, Television and many others over a several year stint. Judy then moved to studio work, producing several gold and platinum albums for Living Colour, Live, Indigo Girls, the Pet Shop Boys and others. As a natural progression, Judy moved to live arena production, completing several world tours with the aforementioned bands. After several years on the road, Judy pursued a more stable gig becoming the audio producer for New York's Big Apple Circus earning accolades from press and audience for exceptional production quality. Last year Judy received and was inducted into the Syracuse Area Music Awards SAMMY's) hall of fame for her lifetime contribution to area music. Judy will be remembered by friends and family for her empathy and caring for others. A passionate champion for women's equality, Judy will be missed for her sharp wit and her motivation to those around her to pursue perfection in all that we endeavor. She is survived by her mother, Georgiana Mareiniss of Fayetteville, her sister Amy Danial of Liverpool and brother David of Ponte Vedra Beach Florida. Due to the logistic issues associated with the pandemic, memorial services are being scheduled for a more appropriate date this summer. Judy Mareiniss was 66 years old.
