Peggy and I went through Kemble School and UFA together (same homeroom - she a "W" and me a "Z"), and we both majored in English at Utica College, sharing many classes together. My most vivid memory of Peggy was when we were both freshman at UFA. I had just turned 13, and decided that I wasn't too old to dress up in a costume and go trick-or-treating with my younger brothers on Halloween. We lived on Shaw Street in Utica, NY, and I could be wrong, but Peggy's family lived nearby on Sunset Ave. or very close. Well, unawares, I rang the doorbell to her house and Peggy came to the door and, horror of HORRORS: she recognized me!!! She was totally gracious and smiled at me. But I was totally mortified that one of my classmates would see me trick-or-treating like "a little kid!" As she put candy in our bags, I wanted to climb in the bag and hide! We laughed about it together years later, but it's one of those memories that will always be with me. I remember Peggy as an attractive and very intelligent girl, who had no problem speaking her mind. She will be greatly missed, by family and her many friends.

Everything about Peggy's Service today touched me. She must be so proud of her girls. The music was beautiful and the readings what I would think Peggy either selected or would have approved of. I was particularly amused by Carrie's/Katie's (?-sorry!), reference to her Mom being so stylish. You see, we were besties in Kemble School (6th-7th grade), and she unfriended' me because I, not knowing better, one day wore a plaid skirt, solid sweater and print scarf! She yelled at me because I should know that plaids and prints are not to be worn together! I've never forgotten. I wonder what she thought of today's fashions.
My sincerest condolences and sympathies to the Waskiewicz and Mascaro families.

To John and your family, and to Mary Ellen and your family,
I'm sorry that I can't be in Utica for Peggy's funeral today, but my prayers and sympathies are with you all. My long family memories are fond, and I hope that your memories bring comfort going forward.
With love, your cousin Sue Waszkiewicz
