Larry was easy to make friends with, a cultured Southern gentleman in every respect. He was my friend and very accomplished colleague throughout the late '70s and mid '80s. He supported my efforts to establish national standards in taxidermy during that time and shared proprietary information with me from his extensive field notes on animal anatomy to aid my sculpting endeavors. From his love for nature and natural talent for sculpting and taxidermy, plus his early mentoring from some of the art's top taxidermy artisans, he achieved and maintained a high shop standard in his work as good as it gets. He gave taxidermy a good name. I am sorely grieved that his soul is no longer with us on this earth. I offer my sincerest condolences to his family and friends at our mutual loss of this fine man. May the Great Spirit of all good men be with you Larry, watch over you till we meet again.

Larry will always be remembered for his incredible ability as a master sculptor and taxidermist. He worked along side legendary taxidermy greats like Sinclair Clark of NYC and John Schneider down in 'Rock Hill' and never once refused to take my calls about his experiences there. Larry was from the old school no doubt and as such was a living aspiration to those of us who knew him. The Grand Master of taxidermy, Carl E. Akeley kept an engraved plaque over his work bench that read; "Death Wins! Bravo! But I laugh in his face as he noses me out at the wire!"
What I wouldn't give to hear the stories those two are telling now. Thank you Larry, you were the youngest old timer in our profession.

Just heard the sad news as have been hunting out of state for weeks. What a great guy he was. Not to mention the best taxidermist I have ever known. I'll miss our visits & lunches on my picking up trophies.
