Flora Washington Mathis

Monticello, FL - Flora Washington Mathis, 83, of Monticello's Lamont Community, passed in Tallahassee on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Graveside services, with COVID-19 restrictions, will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Turkey Scratch Cemetery, Monticello. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Friday at Salem AME Church, Monticello. TILLMAN OF MONTICELLO (850-997-5553) is serving the Mathis family. Born in Aucilla, Mrs. Mathis had lived in Palmetto for many years before returning to Jefferson County several years ago. She had been a certified nurse's assistant and a teacher's assistant. Cherishing precious memories are her son, Torrey Mathis; grandchildren: Jatorrion and Lydia Mathis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The last survivor of her siblings, Flora was predeceased by her parents, Sam Sr. and Leila Houston Washington; siblings: Sam Jr., Rubin, Henry, Davis, Bernice, Ruth, Katie, Elizabeth, Leila, Emma, Rosa, Lillie and Ebenezer.

Aunt Flora was a great aunt. She was more like a friend than an aunt. Ten years apart. We shared so good times together. Could always count on her to talk about the Lord. She will be missed. Love you Auntie!!!❤
