I worked with JT at FASB from 1979 to 1980 and admired him and his leadership. He was always a friend to me and others, he will be missed.

I am very saddened to hear of JT's passing. I worked with JT as a Practice Fellow at the FASB from 1989-1991. He was a wonderful teacher, mentor and all around gentleman. I have so many memories of going into his office with questions. He'd sit patiently and listen, then turn in his chair and look thoughtfully out the window before talking. I always left his office with great guidance, more to think about, and a bit of wisdom to boot. He told the best storiesinsightful and funny. And no one knew the history of accounting standard decisions like he did. What a wonderful legacy he leaves behind in all the people who were fortunate enough to learn from him.

Mary Liz:

Phyllis and I were saddened to hear of J. T.'s passing. J.T. was a friend and mentor to me during the years that I served as Director of the School of Acountancy. There was never any doubt that he was a strong supporter of our program and had a genuine affection for the students that he supported through his scholarship donations.

J.T. was a true gentleman and fun to be around. We'll miss is wit and the twinkle in his eye as he told stories about his career and the people he knew. J.T. was an inspiration. It was a privilege to have known him. I'll miss him.

Mary Liz and family

I cherish my memories of JT and thought of him often over the years. What a character and a story teller! He WAS the practice fellow program and impacted all of us in a significant way. I never pass a Remington sculpture or painting without stopping to admire it and think of JT.

So sorry to hear of JT's passing. I was a FASB practice fellow from 88 to 90 and spent a lot of time with JT. He was a great teacher and mentor and is one of the most important people in my career in helping me to think and write. I enjoyed many laughs and many good times with him. He was the best.

Mary Liz:

I offer my condolences on behalf of the accountancy faculty at the University of Mississippi. I well remember the day that you and J. T. brought his FASB materials to Ole Miss to donate them to the National Library of the Accountancy Profession, which is housed on our campus. J. T. was a great accountant with a great mind. He will be missed.

Mary Liz,

So sorry for your loss. On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy at the University of South Florida, I am writing to express our sincere condolences. JT served on the Advisory Council of our school for many years. He was a strong supporter of the Accountancy programs at USF. We are so grateful for his and your generosity through the JT Ball scholarship, which has benefited scores of students over the years. JT will be sorely missed, but his many contributions to the Accountancy profession will live forever.

Mary Liz,
Lonnie and Martha and the entire Boggs family are thinking about you and want you to know how much you and J.T. have always meant to us. Over the last few days we have been reminiscing about all the wonderful times we have spent with both of you over the years. We've enjoyed Lonnie's stories of when he and J.T. were growing up together, and stories from Jeff and Paula about their amazing visits to your Florida home. Remember that our thoughts and prayers are with you every day.

Dear Aunt Mary Liz, We're so saddened to hear Uncle Jay passed away. He was a fine, loving man who cared for us all. Please know our hearts and prayers are with you.

Dear Mary Liz,
JT was a colleague, neighbor, and friend for 50 years. A truly admirable person professionally and in his dealings with others. I treasure my friendship with JT and with you.
