Our dearest Val, so heart broken to here of Roberts sudden passing. We are so glad we caught up with you, Mick and Robert the last time we were in NZ. The fond memories of him mimicking other people and keeping us entertained around the dinner table. Your family was a rock to me when I first moved to Opunaki in 1972. Marlene was still going to boarding school then. RIP, Marlene, Mick and Robert. A beautiful family.

Dear Aunty Val and family

Our heart goes out to you Aunty Val. We have just heard of the passing of your beloved Robert. I have such fond memories of Robert when growing up in Rahotu. A highlight for me was as a young child watching cousin Robert act in plays which were put on by the Young Farmers. He had such a fantastic sense of humour, just like his Dad.

With love and thoughts from your Auckland family

Our sympathy to all Robert’s family on his passing. Hoppy and I went to Rahotu school together and our families were friends for many years. He was groomsman at our wedding. Hoppy was well known in the district for his quick wit, debating skills with Young Farmers and he was a friend to all. We met up again when we were all working in the North Sea for Sedco. We would occasionally get to visit with him on our trips home to New Zealand in later years and he loved to visit and talk. From those talks we have peace and joy knowing he is with The Lord. He was very proud of his family. Love Marie and Danny.

I was very saddened to hear about the passing of your dear Dad. I couldn't make it to his funeral today but you were all in my thoughts.
I always visited Rob(my cousin) when I visited New Plymouth. We had some great long chats & always had a laugh.

Sending loving thoughts to all the Hopkins whanau. He will be missed. Awesome memories of Rahotu days. Being part of YFC Debating team was a laugh a minute. And for Ken it was Living across the road and the boys at the bus stop throwing him in the bracken fern. RIP Hoppy❤❤
