"Heroes get remembered,
but legends never die."

On Saturday, December 5th 2020, our legendary hero, "Jerry" David Jerome Evans passed away suddenly in his home in Hermosa Beach, CA from complications of Lung Cancer.
Jerry was born (ready to party) on April 29th, 1944 in Portland Oregon. He grew up in Roseburg, Oregon, and Graduated from the University of Oregon in 1967. He remained a proud Duck for the rest of his life and never missed a football game. He moved to Southern California in the 1970's and forged a long (and sometimes very successful) 50 year career as a commercial real estate broker, eventually making his office at Lee and Associates Real Estate in Gardena, CA his home away from home for the last 15 years. Jerry never missed a day of work, and though he loved a party and a stiff drink, his motto was always the same- "If you want to hoot with owls, you gotta soar with the eagles, too."
He was a dedicated Harley Davidson owner, and could be found riding his softail custom from The Mermaid to Malibu (and always back again) most weekends. If you were lucky enough to run into Jerry down at the mermaid, then you most certainly had the pleasure of having him buy you a drink and make you feel like the most special person at the bar.
Jerry is survived by his 3 daughters, Jennifer Minich (Evans) (44), Jacqueline Heather Evans (38), and Elizabeth Grace Evans (30). To put it simply, if you knew Jerry, the one thing you knew about him most was that Jerry loved his daughters, and considered them to be his true purpose and meaning of life.
Jerry's joy was doubled later on when he became the coolest "Papa" ever to Penelope Jane Minich (7) and his namesake and little doppelganger, Peter Jerome Minich (5), and father-in-law to Matthew Minich. His pride in his grandchildren never ceased, and he remained in awe of the special people they are becoming. Jerry never let a day go by without letting us know how much all of us were loved.
We love Jerry, too. And we will miss him and his infectious love of life all of the days of our lives.
