Mr. Douglas was the best coach I ever had. There are coaches that take things too seriously. There are those who offer 9 complements for 1 criticism. I never improved with either type.

Mr. Douglas made everything fun and each kid better. His praise was earned. He got us laughing, but not a single kid felt slighted. That is a gift.

Mr, Douglas played a vital role in building a strong football program in Portsmouth. Many who learned from him proceeded to win multiple HS championships. Before he created the Portsmouth Pop Warner program, the town had 0 titles.

Above all, he was my favorite adult. I was a kid who liked hanging with kids; Mr. Douglas was the exception. The time spent with Ben Sr. and Jr. was a high-point in my childhood.

My condolences go out to Mrs. Douglas, Christine, Ben and the grandkids. We were all lucky to know him.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Ben touched many of our hearts and I'm proud to have known him. I will always remember the loving speeches he gave at Liz and Mike Silvia's weddings.

My sincere condolences to all of you,
Katie Campbell
