My belated condolences to Jan and the entire family. I met Dr. Petersen through my friendship with his son, John, and was privileged to be a part of the epic adventure that took us to the roof of Africa, sumitting Kilimanjaro nearly 20 years ago. He was an inspiration for that alone, but clearly this was just icing on the cake of a life lived to the fullest. We can all aspire to have such a legacy. Rest In Peace.

I recently returned from Italy and learned of Dr Petersen's death in the Carey Business magazine. To his family I extend my sincere condolences. Dr Petersen had an impact on my life. I was in the middle of my career at the International Monetary Fund when in 1986 I applied to the JHU program and with the help of Judy Bowersox crafted a 1-year full-time schedule to complete a Masters of Administrative Science degree. That experience gave me a new direction. I began teaching the JHU capstone course at the downtown DC campus. I went on to join the faculty at London Business School, then after retiring from the IMF was a lecturer at Richmond University and Manchester Business School in the UK. Dr Petersen invited me to take part in a committee to develop a doctoral degree and it's was his interest that got me interested in teaching. I just wanted you to know how I was impacted by his life. I hope you don't mind me sharing these thoughts with you. Sincerely, William Walker

So sorry to hear of Col. Peterson's passing. Fond memories of talking with him and his sons at MRF reunion.

Dear Mrs. Petersen and family

I was very sorry to hear that Uncle Pete has died. The times I remembered seeing him he was so full of quiet energy that it seems so incongruous. I hope the times you remember and the people you share will comfort you.

All the best, Jon McKenney (nephew)
